The first time I held those jewels in my hands, I couldn't help but say out loud,
"How incredibly cute!"
It was a small gold owl with emerald eyes. Honestly, I thought, "It's perfectly charming as it is." But the client said, "I like it, but I just don't feel like wearing it somehow. I've also been bothered by the chain's design for a while."
They brought in three necklaces: the owl necklace, a 0.3ct diamond necklace in a platinum setting, and a 1ct diamond necklace in a gold setting. The request was to reconfigure these three into two.

The owl absolutely had to remain the star. That was non-negotiable.
While they liked it, they felt it might be a bit too cute for their current style. So, I suggested turning it into a long necklace. Unique motifs become surprisingly versatile just by changing their length. By sitting lower than the center of the body, it creates an air of relaxed confidence, as if saying, "I'm deliberately enjoying this jewelry." We decided on a 70cm long necklace with a subtly sparkling cut azuki chain.
And the 0.3ct diamond, removed from the platinum setting, was discreetly adorned in a bezel setting along the owl's chain. The owl remains the star in front, but if you follow the chain, a diamond glints. It feels as if that diamond is continuing its journey in a new place.

The other 1ct diamond, set in gold, had enough presence on its own, so we opted for a simple six-prong setting, but with subtly small prongs. The chain chosen was a square link chain, 40cm long. We also suggested layering the owl necklace with the 1ct diamond necklace.
Now, please take another look at the two completed pieces.
The scratched surface was meticulously polished, restoring the original luster of the gold, and the emerald eyes became even more vibrant.
Doesn't the owl look like it's smiling?

Follow the chain, and a diamond glints.

And the 1ct diamond, set at 40cm, sparkles freely within its small six-prong setting.

It was the moment three slumbering jewels were reborn as two new stories.
When I handed them over, the client was absolutely delighted. "I'm so happy that they've become necklaces that truly bring out the best in each piece," they said.
To bring maximum joy with minimal changes while leveraging the original charm – whether it's a complete redesign or a reform like this, my passion remains the same. Cherishing the memories held within the jewelry and gently blending them into today's life. That is my approach to jewelry reform.
A few months later, I received another reform request from the same client. I'll introduce that to you all gradually.
Thank you always for entrusting me with your precious jewelry.
