Hello, I'm Omori, a designer.
"I like this part, but..."
It all started with a customer's comment, "Let's keep only what you like,"
and transform it into a new form, a ring reformed into a necklace.
"If only I could keep just this part"
We received a gorgeous gold ring with approximately 1 carat diamond surrounded by melee diamonds.
The customer gently pointed to the center part.
She spoke carefully, saying, "I love this design surrounded by small diamonds..."
A design in which the center stone is surrounded by melee diamonds is also called a "halo" or "取り巻き" (torimaki, meaning "surrounded").
*In this article, we will standardize the term to "halo."
Although she would no longer wear it as a ring, she wanted to keep the halo design as is.
To meet her wishes, we proposed a necklace design.

Stone relay from another ring
Furthermore, she brought another platinum ring with 8 melee diamonds, saying, "Actually, I have another ring... I'd be happy if these stones could also be used."
Seeing her somewhat hesitant manner, I spontaneously replied, "Of course they can be used!"
Of course, it can be difficult depending on the size and condition, but we determined that the stones in this ring could be fully utilized.
Her preference was for a design that was "simple, but clearly highlights the main piece."
Therefore, we proposed reconstructing her favorite halo design as a necklace top, and arranging the melee diamonds removed from the platinum ring rhythmically, with four stones on each side of the chain.
Diamond necklace after reform
Memorable stones transformed to fit "the current me"
The result was an 18K yellow gold necklace with a dazzling halo top surrounding a 1-carat center diamond,
and a string of melee diamonds adding a delicate sparkle.
We carefully considered the balance of the 8 melee diamonds on the chain – where to place them, at what intervals to make them look natural, and where to create a "rhythm" – and meticulously crafted each one into a station necklace.
The stones not used this time were returned, with the suggestion, "These are beautiful stones, so please bring them back to life in another form someday."
Diamond necklace after reformIt's perfectly fine to cherish "what you love"
For jewels that have finished their role as rings to spend new days as necklaces.
I believe it's truly a wonderful thing to be able to continue to be with cherished jewelry in a style that feels comfortable to oneself.
"I like this part, but somehow I've stopped using it..."
If you have such a piece of jewelry, please feel free to consult us.
We hope to be like a "family doctor" for jewelry, accompanying each and every individual's "likes."
Thank you very much for your important request this time.
See you in the next blog.
