Hello.
This is Kanae Omori, the designer.
Today, I'd like to share a reform story about three ruby rings that had been out of use for a while, and how they were transformed into a "shape that pleases my current self."
Three Ruby Rings That Lay Dormant
The customer brought in:
- One pear-shaped ruby ring
-
Two oval-cut ruby rings
Three ruby rings before reform
Although all of them had lovely ruby colors, she mentioned, "I haven't used them at all recently..."
She came all the way from Yamanashi Prefecture, saying, "I want to make them into a single piece that suits my current self."
The Image: A "Curling" Line
When combining the three rings into one, the key was the customer's request: "I want to maintain the volume, but also want it to feel light."
So, we developed the design based on the image of a single line curling around the finger.
We carefully adjusted the height, direction, balance with the arm, and spacing to ensure the three rubies are arranged rhythmically while maintaining their individuality.
The Finished Ring Design
Pink Gold to Enhance the Rubies
The three rubies have a slightly pinkish, vibrant hue.
Pink gold, which best brings out their beauty, is also kind to the skin and enhances the fresh color of the rubies.
After trying it on her skin, she was convinced, saying, "This color suits me best," and we decided to craft it in pink gold.
Arm Design to "Naturally Combine" Three into One
The finished design gives the impression that three rings have melted together into one.
- Middle arm: Pavé diamonds create an eternity ring-like sparkle.
- Upper and lower arms: Rounded metal-only lines, with rubies set along their extensions.
While having volume, we prioritized an open, "airy" feel.
"Security" Hidden from View
In contrast to its light appearance, two support arms are added to the palm side of the finger to enhance strength.
We created a design with hidden security, ensuring it resists deformation even with daily use and firmly supports the rubies and diamonds.

Towards "One Shape" That Suits My Current Self
When the customer put the finished ring on her finger and looked in the mirror,
"That ring looks so wonderful now!"
she said, her face lighting up with a brilliant smile.
On this day, she had come wearing two fancy sapphire rings, which she had purchased previously. The newly transformed ruby ring also harmonized in color with them.
I was mesmerized by the harmony of the combined pieces.
The three rings, full of memories, will now embark on new moments together, as "a shape that pleases my current self."
Hidden within dormant jewelry are many stories yet to unfold.
I would be delighted to continue bringing these stories to life, one by one.
