Actually, that same customer entrusted me with another reform.
Today, I'd like to share that reform story.
"I want to create hoop earrings that match a ring I own,"
the customer consulted with me.
What she showed me was a domed ring set with shell and diamonds.
The lines of the metal and the arrangement of the stones were impressive, creating a modern yet elegant and very beautiful ring.
The customer's wish was to create hoop earrings with the same feel as this ring.
The main feature this time: the customer's melee diamonds
The three rings she brought had round melee diamonds.
This time, we decided to make the most of these diamonds, without using shells like the reference ring, and instead focus on achieving a similar aesthetic using only diamonds.
The "roundness" of the domed shape and the balance on the ear
The most important aspect was to replicate the rich roundness (domed feel) of the original ring.
Size was also crucial, so we tried on various hoop earrings in front of a mirror to decide on the perfect balance together.
Designing with CAD to match the stone sizes
Since there were slight size differences among the diamonds, we took them in, removed the stones, and designed the layout using CAD to match the actual stones.
We sent design images via LINE for final confirmation before proceeding.
Completion: The elegance of "not paving" diamonds
The finished earrings feature a plump, rounded domed hoop with diamonds of various sizes set in a rhythmic pattern.
Instead of "paving them densely," we left gaps between the stones, allowing the light of the metal to shine through, creating a sophisticated finish with a sense of openness.
The moment of comparing the finished pieces
When the customer came to pick them up and held them in her hands, her smile brought me such relief....
Later, I even received a delightful message:
"The earrings and the ring are both beautifully finished, and I'm so glad I asked Omori-san to do them."
