Hello.
I'm Omori, the designer.
A while ago, I received this request from a client:
"Omori-san, I want dangling earrings with a bouncy, red, gummy-like gemstone!"
The moment I heard those words, a cabochon-cut gemstone came to mind. But as I listened to her, I realized, "It's not just a cabochon... this is a sugarloaf cut!"
And for this requirement, there was no other perfect gemstone than a "ruby." The problem, however, was that a vivid red, bouncy, gummy-like ruby with a sugarloaf cut is not easy to find.
Furthermore, since they were earrings, a matching pair of gemstones was needed.
Fortunately, I had a sourcing trip abroad coming up.
"This might be destiny!"
With that thought, I headed to the exhibition hall where gemstones from all over the world gather.
Upon arriving at the venue, I went around inspecting each display case.
"...Nothing."
There were many beautiful gemstones, but I couldn't find a ruby that matched the client's ideal of "vivid red," "sugarloaf cut," and "a pair" anywhere.
"There are tourmalines, though..." My heart wavered for a moment, but I didn't want to give up until the very end! (The red of tourmaline is a bit dark, closer to purple, so it wouldn't match the client's ideal.)
I went around the venue from end to end again, and this time I asked to see the loose stones "at the back of the display cases."
And then--
I finally found them!
Vivid, sugarloaf-cut rubies, and a matching pair!

Overjoyed, I immediately sent videos and photos to the client.
The client was also thrilled, saying, "This is it!" At that moment, all my fatigue vanished.
Back in Tokyo, I started thinking about the design based on the client's wishes.
What the client envisioned was an "Egyptian ambiance."
So, I placed the ruby on my left index finger, looked at it from different angles, and searched for the shape that would sparkle most beautifully. (This might be my favorite part of the design process.)

Here are the key design points▼
- The vivid sugarloaf-cut rubies are set at the apex of Egyptian pyramids.
- The gold has a rough-hewn texture, reminiscent of desert sand.
- Furthermore, diamonds are set all the way around between the ruby and the gold, adding an elegant sparkle.
Thus, a one-of-a-kind pair of dangling earrings, swaying beautifully at the ears, was completed.

On the day of delivery, the client took the earrings and said:
"I've loved jewelry and collected many pieces over the years, but these are my absolute favorite earrings."
At that moment, the long journey of searching for the gemstones and all the trial and error in design felt completely worthwhile.
Jewelry is not just something to wear; it's a special existence that soothes hearts and nurtures love. I am truly delighted to have helped bring that sentiment to life.
